Lance J. Sussman, Ph.D., a native of Baltimore, Maryland, has been Chief Rabbi of the Keneseth Israel Reform Congregation in Elkins Park, PA since 2001. Previously, he was Rabbi of Temple Concord in Binghamton, NY and Associate Professor of Jewish History at Binghamton University, SUNY. Rabbi Sussman has also taught at Princeton, Hunter College, and Rutgers. He is currently the elected Chairman of the Board of Governors at Gratz College in Melrose Park, PA. and an Honorary Trustee of Delaware Valley University. Rabbi Sussman is a specialist in American Jewish history and has written several books and numerous articles on the American Jewish experience. He is currently working with History Making Productions on a television documentary about the history of the Jewish community in Philadelphia. He is also editing a collection of his sermons and essays, “Portrait of an American Rabbi”. Rabbi Sussman and his 42-year-old wife, Liz Zeller Sussman, director of the AI ​​preschool, have five children and two grandchildren. ”
