The registration window for the Salina Adult Education Heart opens on Monday

The Salina Adult Education Center will have a registration window for the ESL / GED / College Prep Skill Building classes February 8-26.

The orientation takes place in the week of March 8th.

Courses are currently held remotely. Distance learning in adult education at SAEC involves students learning from their home environment with live lessons from SAEC teachers.

Classes take place in the morning or in the evening and are attended by the students two days a week. Students also need to do assignments outside of class to improve learning. These are intended for adult students who are employed, parents, or have other life responsibilities. Scheduling a few hours per week is helpful for SAEC students to complete these assignments.

GED and College Skill Building courses focus on math, reading, writing, and work readiness. ESL courses focus on the acquisition of the English language, including speaking, listening, reading and writing.

On-site classes should continue at the SAEC location as COVID-19 numbers in Salina County are gradually decreasing. These courses also take place two days a week, in the morning or in the evening. Stay in touch with SAEC staff for more information on when on-site lessons will resume.

Kelly Mobray, Director of Adult Education, encourages adults in need of services to ensure the home environment is ready for class. Childcare assistance is an important aspect to think about, as well as a laptop and a strong internet to take live classes. Mobray wants those considering SAEC courses to know that the staff can definitely help students achieve their academic goals, to be ready for college courses or to find a better job.

GED and College Skill Builders should visit and fill out the forms on the REGISTRATION tab during the registration window. SAEC staff will contact you upon receipt of all forms.

ESL students must visit or call the main website at 309.4660. The center is located at 2620 Centennial Road. This is on the south side of the Salina Area Tech College campus.

Mobray can be reached at 309.4660 or for more information or questions [email protected].
